· · · · · ·

Eating by the sea is one of summer’s special pleasures. Fortunately, the Mediterranean has an incredible selection of great places where you can do just that. As we enter the height of summer, sea side restaurants are highly requested. After a year and a half of staying at home, a meal with a view is what we dreamed of!

Fortunately, as local travel experts, we know the best places on the sea where you don’t sacrifice great food for a spectacular view. Each of our choices are places we know to be the best. Our tailor made vacations come with detailed destination kits that have our top choices for where to eat and drink. This means, you are never traveling without local, expert advice.

This month, we are sharing our top choices for dining by the sea in each of the countries we visit. Below we have our favorite places with a sea view in Greece and Croatia. This week was particularly challenging in two destinations known for their amazing beaches! These are a few of our top picks, but there are so many more!

Antonio Patak, Pakleni Islands, Croatia

This seaside spot is located by the incredible islands of Borovac and Planikovac. Choose a local lobster and one of the many Croatian wines on their extensive list. You can only reach this restaurant by boat, and its definitely worth the trip!

Restaurant Laganini in Palmižana, Hvar, Croatia

Laganini Lounge Bar & Fish House is one of Croatia’s most exclusive spots. This restaurant and bar is on the sea, easily accessible via boat transfers from Hvar. Located on the beautiful island of St.Clement it offers fresh local fish as well as a great cocktail list at the lounge bar.

Festa, island of Zut, Croatia

Žut is one of the islands of the beautiful Kornati archipelago. It is located between the island of Pašman on the one side, which is connected to the mainland by a boat heading to Ugljan, and the island of Kornat on the other. Festa is lucky to have one of the best chefs in Croatia. The restaurant serves dishes with an Asian flair, you can also go “glamping” on this inhibited island!

Banje Beach, sea side of Dubrovnik, Croatia

The beach club at the historical center of Dubrovnik also has a rather delicious restaurant. Yes, it can seem a bit touristy but food is very good. Using fresh seasonal foods from local producers and farmers, the chef seamlessly fuses together Mediterranean cuisine with typical Dalmatian flavor.

Kanali Taverna on the sea, Elounda, Crete, Greece

Right by the sea on Elounda Bay, just a 15 minutes walk from the main resort. The setting is unique: on the shoreline by an ancient sunken city of Olous, with ruined windmills, a picturesque church and a mosaic from an early Christian basilica close to your table. The atmosphere is laid-back and you can enjoy delicious Cretan cuisine while you relax.

Kiki’s Taverna, Mykonos, Greece

“Kiki’s taverna feels like a BBQ at your neighbor’s porch with a spectacular view. Everything is so minimal, authentically rustic, and that makes it simply perfect. No matter what you order, it’s divine.”

On Aghios Sostis beach, overlooking the smaller beach and chapel, it takes no reservations so outside on any given summer day a row of sunned folk will be perched waiting blissfully for their turn to sit at a coveted table and satisfy their cravings.  This place went from the best insider’s tip to a public favorite, only its distance from town and windy seas keep the crowds at bay. Open for lunch only as there’s no electricity.

Ammoudi Fish Restaurant , on the sea, Ammoudi Bay, Santorini, Greece

The best restaurants with seafood on the water. Ammoudi is the port below Oia and there are 4 restaurants here all with great fresh seafood. The Ammoudi Fish Tavern is the best of them but they’re all good choices with wonderful seafront views. Walk down to the waterfront, and have the restaurant call you a taxi to avoid the climb back up. Resos a must. Love this place!

Yalos, Exo Gialos Beach, Santorini, Greece

Boho chic beach restaurant in Santorini. This great spot is an easy 10 minute drive from the town of Fira. It has great, fresh seafood and what we consider the best fava in Santorini along with light DJ music and a trendy but accessible atmosphere. Try the tomatokeftedes (fried tomato balls)!

Always tailor made…

We hope that some of these restaurants by the sea made your mouth start to water and your mind start to dream of your next trip to Greece or Croatia (or both…)!

It’s the time to start planning! We are eager and ready to start helping you plan your tailor made holiday.
