A relaxing meal with a sea view is one of the perks of summer dining. As summer heads to its peak, we are sharing our top restaurants with a view! We have shared our favorites in each of the countries we visit. This week, we are continuing with Portugal and Morocco. These two vibrant destinations are known for their spectacular food. Coupled with an unforgettable view, you’ll see why these are our favorite stops!

One of the benefits of working with a tailor made travel planner is our in depth knowledge of the places you will visit. Each trip comes with a detailed, personalized destination kit containing insider advice and recommendations on what to see and do. Though these restaurants with a view are great, there are many more in other places around these countries! These are just a few top choices, and if your holiday takes you on a different path, we will be able to help you pick the best places in other stops as well.

Fortaleza do Guincho, Cascais, Portugal

This 1-star michelin restaurant has a dramatic view over the Atlantic. Once a fort in the gorgeous resort town of Cascais, it is now one of the area’s top dining destination. It’s also a spectacular hotel, and worth a stop!

Their philosophy is based and inspired by the Atlantic, the background setting of the restaurant. The best fish and seafood from the Portuguese coast as well as highest quality of Portuguese products and traditions merged with French fine dining. It’s a wonderful stop for an unforgettable meal with a view to match.

Noah Surf House, Santa Cruz, Portugal

Super location on the beach with an incredible view. Boho surf vibes merged with truly excellent Portuguese cuisine with a modern twist and with a touch of sustainability. Vegetables are served from their own garden, fish is locally caught and though it is a little pricey, its for good reason. Great stop even for a coffee on the sea!

Restaurante Sal, view over Praia do Pego, Grândola, Portugal

A bit south from Lisbon, this seafood restaurant has a spectacular view. Prawns and octopus are always delicious but the freshness of all the fish really stands out. Off menu specials like tomato rice as a side are also the perfect accompaniment to a meal served on the sea.

Meste Zé, Guincho, Portugal

This unassuming beachfront spot is a great choice to take in the sunset view over the little Guincho beach. The restaurant itself serves classic Portuguese fare, but served with the smiles and warm hospitality of the owner. We tried percebes, the Portuguese delicacy here, on our last visit, washed down with a clod local beer. It’s a great spot not far from Sintra or Lisbon!

Caniço, Alvor, Portugal

Particularly influenced by the southwest Mediterranean cuisine, Caniço serves a large selection of fish and shellfish prepared in traditional recipes. Situated on the beach, the restaurant takes full advantage of the breathtaking view over the sea and is reached by exclusive elevator transporting you down the cliffs right into the restaurant.

Estaminé, Algarve, Portugal

Estaminé is situated at the southerly most point of Portugal, on the algarvian coast, in the beautiful Ria Formosa Natural Park. There are few places where you can enjoy fresh fish and seafood in the area with a sea view. This is the only restaurant on the Desert Island. It is completely integrated into the landscape with a minimal environmental impact.  They serve typical dishes from the region (which has a long history of fishing and seafood) and specialities include local clams or a charcoal grilled whole fresh fish.

Le Chalet de la Plage, Essaouira, Morocco

The beach location is delightful (grab a window table) with a great sea view. The service is professional but friendly, courteous and efficient and the food is outstanding. Fresh lobster, sea urchin, even their famous paella. It’s an institution in Essaouira and a wonderful spot for a meal.

Ocean Vagabond, Essaouira, Morocco

Facing the sea, this beach restaurant located at the entrance of Essaouira is the ideal place to spend a real moment of pleasure. The cuisine is very good, the prices are reasonable and the service is all smiles. Happy hour from 6pm to 7pm on weekends and some evenings during school holidays. They have a tapas bar, a bistro and wood-fired pizzas as well. A relaxed and family atmosphere creates a framework where it is good to lounge.

Le Taros café restaurant, Essaouira, Morocco

The Taros Café overlooks the harbor, the main square of Essaouira and the sea. In this 18th century building are 3 different spaces with 3 atmospheres: the tapas bar ideal for the aperitif, the colorful restaurant and a menu cleverly developed by chef Cyrille Pruvost, and finally a large terrace on two levels from which you can admire the beautiful sunset. Continue your evening with live music where everyone loves to meet.

Always tailor made…

We hope that some of these restaurants by the sea made your mouth start to water and your mind start to dream of your next trip to Portugal or Morocco. It’s the time to start planning! We are eager and ready to start helping you plan your tailor made holiday.
