Best Beaches for a Family Trip: Spain

· · ·

Spain is a great Mediterranean destination for a family trip! This vibrant country offers so much, from cities full of art and architecture to historic small towns. However, for those clients traveling with kids during the summer, a family trip to the beach is a great idea! Golden sand, spectacular sunsets, warm, calm water…your dream vacation starts here.

This month, we have been sharing some of our favorite beach choices in the destinations we can help you discover. We aren’t just local experts, but we are also parents and have families that we travel with. This means that the places we recommend for our clients are places that we know for certain to be great. Those of our clients considering Spain for their next tailor made vacation, take note of some of our favorite beaches for a family trip!

Playa de los Álamos, Costa del Sol

Of all the beaches in the area of Malaga, Playa los Alamos is the furthest from the city center. It’s still easy to access. However, this makes it also the least frequented, so it’s a great stop for a family trip! This beach is known for its light surf and long stretch of dark golden sand. There are also many activities for families with older children. You can rent a pedal boat or even try more adventurous activities like jet skiiing. To conclude, it’s one of our favorite beaches for children in the Costa Del Sol.

Playa de Bajondillo, Costa Del Sol

Playa de Bajondillo is perhaps the most “centrally” located in the area. There are many other golden sandy beaches in the area, but this one is a great spot for families. It’s a large, clean beach even in the busy season. There is also a small playground for kids, and a volleyball court for families with teenagers. It is also an easy walk to the many restaurants and shops on the main boardwalk if you need a break from the sun. This beach is popular for a family trip to the beach, especially with the locals. It can get busy in the summer months, so come early to rent a sun bed and umbrella!

A famiy trip to the Canary Islands: Las Canteras beach, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

This is a wonderful choice for a family trip in the Canary Islands. Most of the beach is protected from waves. This means even the littlest travelers can play in the shallow beachfront without getting knocked over by strong seas. Las Canteras is also quite a close walk to a gorgeous seafront boardwalk. A family trip to this beach isn’t complete without an ice cream from one of the many shops! There are also several beachfront restaurants and little stores where families will find everything they need.

Platja de Muro, Mallorca

Mallorca is a great stop for a family trip. This island is a dream destination for beach lovers.

It is also an easy and fun add on to a tailor made itinerary! Platja de Muro Mallorca is one of the best and safest beaches for family in the area. It has soft waves and crystal clear water that looks like it is from a postcard. It is also the largest sand beach on Mallorca and includes four sections that in total cover nearly six kilometers. Families will love the warm, gorgeous water, and kids of all ages will have fun looking for fish right off the shore!

Tossa de Mar, Costa Brava

The Playa Grande main beach in Tossa de Mar is our top choice in the area for a family trip. To start, it is a Blue Flag beach, awarded for its cleanliness and facilities. The beach is equipped with all the services a family could need, including bathrooms and showers and first aid in case of an emergency. There are plenty of activities for families with older children. They might like to try waterskiing and kayaking! There are also options for booking boat trips from here. First, an easy boat trip to nearby Lloret de Mar. Otherwise, a glass bottom boat to explore the area just off the shore. It’s fun for kids of all ages to see the sea life below!

Playa de San Miguel de Cabo de Gata, Almería

This is a very nice, long and wide sandy beach. But it’s most incredible feature isn’t the beach itself- It is also possible to see wild pink flamingos from various lookouts along the beach towards the salt flats. On a family trip, kids can learn about nature since the area is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and located in the middle of a natural park.
