After this past year and a half, a Mediterranean family beach holiday is what we have been dreaming about! There are so many beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean. Many of them are perfect for a family vacation. Clear water, great services, long stretches of sand…these make a beach a great choice for kids of all ages. This month, Bella Vita is focusing on some of our personal favorites in the countries that we visit.
One of the benefits of working with a local travel planner like Bella Vita is that we have personally visited the locations we send you to. These are destinations we love and know well. Traveling with little (and big) ones can have its own set of challenges. Here at BVT, we have done these trips with our own families. We have seen these beaches with our little ones. We know exactly what our clients need to make their tailor made vacation perfect!
This week, some of our favorite family beaches in France. France has some of our absolute favorite family spots, so it was a difficult decision!
Here are some of our top family beach choices:
Pampelonne Beach, St. Tropez
The 3 mile stretch of gorgeous white sand is one of the main reasons we love this beach, but another big one is Megan’s favorite beach club, club 55. There are great shops, a boutique, boho feel, lots of options for dining for a family. Also, for families with smaller kids, there are several beach clubs with playgrounds on the beach. The water is crystal clear, and there are lots of options for water sports for adults and older kids. Jet-skiing for the more daring, paddle boarding for a bit of an easier option. Regardless, its a great stop for a family beach day!
Argelès Plage, Languedoc-Roussillon
Argelès Plage is a 5 mile stretch of golden sand and calm waters that fortunately almost never gets packed. It’s a go to spot for French families on holiday, and they are right. It’s well kept and clean, has on site a marina and even a beach club just for kids. There’s also a 2 mile boardwalk on one end of the beach that has great shady trees and gives a nice option for a walk or bike ride while escaping the summer sun.
Plage de la Grande Escoure in Lacanau, Aquitaine
Plage de la Grande Escoure is located on a lake and a great choice for a family beach holiday with toddlers. It’s a picture perfect French beach resort with all the perks – lifeguards, cafés, showers. But since it’s a lake, there are no currents or strong waves so kids can play without anyone getting hurt. The lakeside restaurants are a great spot for a meal or a drink while watching the littlest ones play in the shallow, clear lake water.
Lac Marin d’Hossegor, Côte d’argent
Not far from Biarritz (about a 40 minute drive), this lagoon is a great spot for a family with little ones. Not a sea beach, as a lagoon it’s totally protected from the surf. The shoreline is long and sandy, and without waves little ones can play in the blue, clear water. There are a few beaches along the lagoon that have lifeguards and even in the summer a kids activity club. There are small beach restaurants, snack bars and easy parking. Also, in the busier months, a family can try kayaking and even sailing trips off the lagoon.
Plage de Miramar in La Londe les Maures, Côte d’Azur
The area of La Londe les Maures has an incredible selection for families. Each beach has its own personality, and we love Plage de Miramar for families. Shower facilities, bike paths that are great for kids of all ages and a lifeguard. Popular Argentiere beach also has a long stretch of boardwalk with great, family friendly restaurant choices as well. For families with bigger kids, Pansard beach has some really nice coves for an afternoon of snorkeling.
